Job description

Our client just east of London, Ontario, is looking to add a Strategic Salesperson to their team.

The incumbent will be responsible for marketing, promoting, and profitably selling products and services to existing and potential new customers in accordance with customer requirements.

Sales personnel represent our client in issues involving the company's suppliers and the purchase of products from those suppliers. They are involved in sourcing new products and negotiating pricing with suppliers. The role reports to the Director of the Strategic Sales Team, Director of New Business Development, or Operations Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales personnel are involved in all aspects of product sales, including but not limited to:

  1. Establishing contacts with existing customers, identifying new opportunities, and following up on potential leads.
  2. Market sourcing of customer RFQs and finalizing company quotes through internal processes and calculations.
  3. Managing customer account activities and communication via direct on-site interactions, online supplier portals, or other means (phone, email).
  4. Utilizing resources to reach out to prospects, converting them into customers, and generating new business opportunities.
  5. Monitoring industry trends to identify emerging markets and collaborating with management to develop entry strategies.
  6. Working with management to develop and enhance marketing materials to increase market presence.
  7. Attending industry trade shows to generate leads and maintain customer relationships.
  8. Sourcing products based on information from the Sales Team, including RFQs, customer requirements, and verbal communications.
  9. Expanding product knowledge to assist in negotiations, cost-saving suggestions, and better understanding of products.
  10. Issuing Special Notice Forms to inform departments of new products or changes, ensuring proper handling and monitoring.
  11. Working with suppliers to determine scheduling and reduce obsolete stock, issuing notices for engineering changes.
  12. Collaborating with Purchasing to manage dead stock and other inventory issues.
  13. Gaining knowledge of subcontractors, visiting sites, reviewing literature, and initiating cost-reduction projects.
  14. Ensuring effective communication across all departments for smooth information flow.
  15. Providing data for APQP activities related to product launches.
  16. Traveling as needed to meet sales objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, with additional relevant education or experience, particularly in sales.

Strong computer skills and familiarity with sales-related technology.

Ability to work independently to meet sales, divisional, and corporate goals efficiently.

Knowledge of company policies and procedures related to the Strategic Sales Team.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new procedures, practices, and policies.

At least 1 year of experience in the automotive industry, understanding industry standards and expectations.
