Job summary

The Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa in Whistler, BC is seeking a dedicated Dishwasher who will support our culinary team by keeping dishware clean, assisting with prep for the 3rd cook, and helping maintain a sanitary, organized kitchen throughout each shift.

The role includes responsibility for cleaning equipment, managing cleaning supplies, and assisting cooks as needed. Eligible team members enjoy benefits and staff perks as part of Hilton's hospitality culture.

Responsibilities

• Must wash all ceramics, equipment and stainless products supplied by wait and culinary staff.
• Responsible for assisting the 3rd cook with daily preparation of raw product for service (e.g., peeled potatoes, carrots, onions).
• Keep the dishwashing machine clean, including dismantling and scrubbing interior per shift.
• Maintain backup of cleaning chemicals and supplies for replacement during shift.
• General garbage removal and recycling of cardboard and cans at least once per shift.
• Daily sweeping and mopping of service coolers and floors.
• Prompt cleaning of spills or leaks as requested by culinary team.
• Submit ideas for operational improvements to Executive Chef.
• Keep walls above and below counters in dishwasher area clean.
• Ensure preparation sinks in main kitchen are clean and free of equipment and food waste.
• Clean all stainless counters and racks before end of evening shift.
• Assist cooks in preparation where needed.
• Follow company policies & procedures as outlined in Team Member Handbook and communicate them to others.
• Understand health and safety mandates.

PURPOSE

The Steward is in charge of keeping the dishwashing machine clean and free of food particles that may impede its successful operation. They keep the rinse agents and soaps at an acceptable level, deals with general garbage removal and the recycling of cardboard and cans. This position serves as an assistant to all culinary team members in the daily execution of their tasks.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Must wash of all ceramics, equipment and stainless products supplied by wait and culinary staff.
• Responsible for assisting the 3rd cook with the daily preparation of raw product for service ie. Peeled potatoes, carrots, onions etc.
• Keep the dishwashing machine clean, which includes dismantling and scrubbing the complete interior on a per shift basis.
• Keep a backup of all cleaning chemicals and supplies used in this station ready, in case of need for replacement during shift.
• General garbage removal and recycling of card board and cans a minimum of once each shift. More often if required.
• Daily sweeping and mopping of service coolers and floors
• Prompt cleaning of any spills or leaks as requested by culinary team.
• Submit ideas for operational improvements to Executive Chef
• Keep walls above and below counters in dishwasher area clean.
• Ensure preparation sinks in main kitchen are clean and free of equipment and food waste at least 2 times per shift or when required by culinary team
• Clean all stainless counters and racks before end of evening shift. (More often if possible)
• Assist cooks in preparation where and when needed.
• Follow company policies & procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook, and is able to effectively communicate them to other team members
• Understand and work in accordance with health and safety mandates
