Job Description
What is the opportunity?
  • Help Originate: Support the sales in their meetings with clients; Originate QIS ideas; Escalate client interest, intel and trends from the Canadian franchise; Help code, back test and tweak strategies in an autonomous manner
  • Build Content: Provide relevant innovative products, features and ideas to our distribution and institutional clients franchises in Canada; Strategic initiatives: Help further define, lead and deliver initiatives to increase our footprint in the Canadian QIS eco system; Lead the QIS initiative across the full value chain for Canada in a hub and spoke approach including product development, partnership with trading, origination activities and platform improvement spanning all asset classes, including equities, fixed income, FX and commodities as may be required by clients; Combine our multi‑asset QIS strength to deliver the solutions spectrum to our sales and client franchises in Canada; Develop QIS content efforts in coordination with stakeholders (research, strategists, trading…); Infrastructure and scalability: help if/where necessary; Challenge the platform: challenge stakeholders to have the platform evolve considering client interest, RBC’s risk appetite, strength and weaknesses.
What will you do?
  • Help originate QIS client situations and opportunities, in Canada specifically
  • Build content around Canadian client situations
  • Manage the QIS structuring efforts in Canada
  • Lead the QIS initiative across the full value chain product development, partnership with trading, origination activities and platform improvement for Canada
  • Product innovation and bespoke solutions for Canada
  • Identify market opportunities and define strategic guidelines
  • Generate new investment ideas
  • Structure, promote, filter and adapt QIS solutions for clients
  • Pricing: price requests to be automated and or dealt with timely; accompany quants and developers in building suitable models; assist traders with complex structures
  • Platform: contribute to various platform development projects related to service improvement and product development for the Canadian franchise
  • Ensure appropriate level of controls on the business from a structuring perspective
  • Work on cross‑geographic origination initiatives by joining client conversations
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with firm policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly. Failure to do so may subject you to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
