B. Riley Farber is partnering with Farber Debt Solutions to recruit a Director, Marketing Communications. Farber Debt Solutions (https://www.farber.ca/) is one of Canada's oldest, most respected, and largest debt solution providers. Established in 1979, with over 45 years of experience, their 300+ employees across the country have helped over 200,000 Canadians resolve their debt issues. As they enter a new growth phase, they seek experienced, energized, and agile marketers to transform their go-to-market strategies and disrupt their industry to better serve Canadians in need.

Role Overview

The Director, Marketing Communications will provide leadership and guidance in creating and managing a brand strategy and communications plan. This plan will leverage deep consumer insights to differentiate Farber, expand their reach, and drive demand for their services.

In this role, the Director will partner with the VP of Marketing and be a key member of the Marketing Leadership team, as well as a valued partner to the broader Farber leadership team. From day one, they will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive advertising strategy aimed at expanding Farber’s reach and creating greater demand and preference for their services. The Director will oversee client marketing efforts to increase engagement, reduce churn, and enhance the client experience, building on their reputation for client satisfaction. Additionally, they will serve as Farber’s Brand Champion, continually evolving the brand and positioning Farber as the brand of choice. This role requires collaboration with the Performance Marketing and Web Channel teams, management of high-profile marketing projects, and leadership of a high-performing team.

Qualifications
  • Experience in traditional Marketing & Communications methods, including Customer Marketing, in fast-paced, entrepreneurial organizations
  • Proven leadership skills in recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and developing engaged teams
  • Strong understanding of marketing in the consumer finance sector, with insights into debt challenges, financial literacy, and financial wellness in Canada
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder influencing skills
  • Data-driven mindset with ability to analyze results, derive insights, and develop action plans
  • Successful track record in developing and implementing brand strategies, including strategic and communications planning and campaign development
  • Experience managing ad campaigns and content strategies across platforms in analytical environments
  • Proven success in customer marketing strategies that increase engagement, reduce churn, and enhance the customer experience
  • Knowledge of current marketing, social media, and communications trends, with a test-and-learn approach
  • Understanding of strategic marketing, brand reputation, and public relations practices
  • Creative and curious strategic thinker, always seeking to optimize results
  • Experience with Cause Marketing is an asset
