Reporting to the Senior Director – Insurance and Bonds, the holder of this position will play a key role by working closely with her on insurance strategy. The director will actively contribute to mitigating risks that could impact Pomerleau's sustainability, with a particular focus on major projects. Additionally, as the manager of the insurance team, you will be called upon to support the team in developing their expertise, valuing a methodical approach with great attention to detail, to support and develop a high-performing and passionate team.

What You Will Do

  • Supporting, supervising, and developing the insurance offer strategy (corporate and projects) and ensuring its deployment – for Pomerleau, Boréa Construction, Pomerleau Capital, and Beaubois Ébénisterie.
  • Advising senior management on risk management strategies;
  • Analyzing tender documents and contracts to determine if the insurance requirements requested by the clients are adequate;
  • Making written and verbal representations to clients;
  • Determining the insurance requirements for subcontractors on major projects;
  • Coordinating and influencing internal stakeholders, including project managers, legal, financial, and operational teams, and brokers, to assess risk exposures and develop strategies;
  • Proposing training and offering recommendations to ensure continuous improvement of the function and ultimately, added value to the organization;
  • Proposing new ways to optimize processes and ensure a methodical approach to handling insurance files;
  • Maintaining good business relationships with various brokers;
  • Coaching, mobilizing, and elevating the team to a higher level to meet the growing needs of the company in a context of strong growth and a complexifying environment in which Pomerleau operates.
  • Acting as an expert and supporting your team in managing and coordinating insurance for each project.

This role could be for you if you have

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business administration, or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Team management experience;
  • Knowledge in the field of construction, insurance, and/or legal (an asset);
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and be able to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired results within the planned timeline;
  • Comfortable in a fast-evolving work environment, demonstrating agility and good priority management;
  • Bilingualism;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Individual with a business partner approach (proposing solutions aligned with the organization's needs).
