Job summary

The District of Lake Country is hiring a full-time Digital Communications and Public Engagement Advisor based in Lake Country, BC, on a one-year term. You will support the Communications department with digital communications, content creation, and community engagement, reporting to the Communications Lead.

Ideal candidates bring a diploma in communications or related field and at least three years of experience, with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and social media management.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
• Minimum of three years’ experience, preferably in local government or public sector.
• IAP2 Canada training or equivalent is considered an asset.
• Valid BC Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging content for the District's website, social media channels, newsletters, advertising campaigns, and other communication platforms.
• Manage the District's social media presence, including content planning, publishing, community engagement, and performance tracking.
• Support public engagement initiatives through online engagement, surveys, community events, information sessions, and outreach activities.
• Provide communications advice and develop communication plans and material for District projects, programs, and initiatives.
• Monitor and analyze communication and engagement metrics, support emergency communications, and assist senior leadership with sensitive and confidential communication matters.
