Job summary

The District of Lake Country invites applications for a permanent full-time Development Engineer in Lake Country, BC. Reporting to the Manager of Development Engineering, you will support departmental operations and manage multiple projects, interpreting land titles, contracts and development agreements.

You will review reports, prepare servicing agreements and maintain various records to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of five years' experience in local government, including engineering and land development experience.
• Valid British Columbia Driver's License, Class 5.

• Review and evaluate engineering reports and studies for conformance with bylaws, policies, and standards and ensure results are incorporated into designs.
• Review land title documents, legal agreements, and development agreements; assist with servicing and development agreements and related reports and records.

Development Engineer

About the Opportunity

The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Development Engineer based in Lake Country, BC. Reporting to the Manager of Development Engineering, the Development Engineer is responsible for assisting with the operations of the Development Engineering Department. The Development Engineer will have responsibility for managing multiple projects at a time, interpreting land title documents, contracts, and agreements, and recommend approvals as appropriate. They will prepare servicing and development agreements and prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records, and related documents.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:

• Review and evaluate engineering (and other professional) reports and studies, ensuring their conformance with applicable bylaws, policies, and engineering standards, and confirming their results and recommendations are captured into the project design and methodology;
• Review and interpret land titles documents, legal agreements, master/phased development agreements as they relate to complex and multifaceted land use applications, such as subdivision and other related, in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and legislation.

More About You

To qualify for this role, you must have a university degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of five years' experience in local government, including engineering and infrastructure associated with land development. Additionally, a valid British Columbia Driver's License, Class 5 is required. As our ideal candidate, you have a strong aptitude for learning new procedures and making effective use of changing technology. You have comprehensive knowledge of design concepts and construction practices related to municipal engineering and land development practices. You have considerable knowledge of complex technical and legislative regulations regarding land development.
