Job summary

Parkland County is seeking a Communications Advisor to plan, develop and implement service-focused communications across the County’s plans, policies, programs and activities. You will manage the website, intranet and social media while assisting with content creation, public engagement, media relations and issues management.

The ideal candidate holds a Post-Secondary Diploma in Communications or related field with at least two years in corporate communications, preferably in the public sector.

Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in corporate communications, preferably in a public sector or municipal organization.
• Membership with IABC or CPRS is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with POPA, ATIA and MGA is preferred.
• Experience managing a corporate website using a CMS.
• Excellent interpersonal, public speaking and media relations skills; writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills are required.
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and CMS is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement effective, service-focused communications for the County.
• Manage the County’s digital channels: website, intranet, and social media; assist with content creation, public engagement, media relations and issues management.
• Collaborate with Council and County staff to communicate plans, policies, programs and activities.
