Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a friendly Dietary Aide to support meal service in Kennedy Lodge LTC, Scarborough. You will assist with setup, serving, and cleanup, under the supervision of the Food Service Manager.

Qualifications

• Enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program as required in Ontario long-term care.
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate as mandated.
• Demonstrates care for residents and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a long-term care setting.
• Commitment to safety, hygiene, and resident well-being.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup, preparation, serving and cleaning for meals.
• Support cooks with basic food preparation and meal service.
• Ensure meals are served according to diet orders.
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow internal guidelines and safety protocols.

Hourly Wage: $23.731

Position: Dietary Aide

Status: Casual Vacancy

Hours: 7am-3pm and 4pm-8pm

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.

• TB screening documentation as required under the Southbridge Care Homes’ Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Policy
