Job summary

Southbridge Exeter in Exeter, Ontario is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide for our brand-new long-term care home opening in September 2026. The role supports meal setup, preparation, service and cleanup under the Food Service Manager.

You will ensure safe food handling, assist cooks, and serve meals according to resident diet orders while maintaining dining room and kitchen cleanliness. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Caring attitude with passion for serving others.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks with basic food preparation and meal service.
• Ensure proper handling, storage and labeling of food.
• Serve meals according to resident diet orders.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge And Skills Required

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements Include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
