Job summary

Walmart Canada in Nanaimo, BC is seeking a Deli Bakery Associate to deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining the Bakery and Deli area, stocking and assisting customers. The location at 6801 ISLAND HWY N, NANAIMO, BC V9T 6N8, Canada, is the base for this role.

The role involves zone maintenance, stock rotation, proper signing and pricing, temperature controls for food safety, and preparing deli and bakery items for display. Minimum wage starts at CAD 18.70 per hour.

Qualifications

• Age 16 or older.

Responsibilities

• Zones the department to ensure product shelves, tables and bunkers are organized and product is in the correct location.
• Rotates stock and checks for expired products.
• Ensures the merchandise is properly signed and priced.
• Adheres to standards and policies for cold chain compliance, thermometer calibrations, temperature recording, food handling, product rotation, sell-by dates, and expiration dates.
• Takes orders for Deli Department merchandise; preparing hot food merchandise and providing requested assistance.
• Prepares deli food orders utilizing utensils; preparing chicken by using rotisserie oven; and fill prepared side dishes for placement into display area.
• Prepares bakery merchandise by accurately following thawing and baking guidelines to ensure the quality and visual appearance of Bakery Department merchandise, such as bread, cakes, pies, cookies, and rolls.
• Follows proper procedures for; Ordering, clearance, markups/markdowns, signing/flagging/pricing/labels.
