When Blarney Castle #2 gas station first opened its doors in Bear Lake in 1933, the station’s owner - Denny McCarthy – prided himself on providing “superior customer service.” More than 75 years later, three generations of McCarthys continue this commitment to putting our customers first. As it was in 1933, Blarney Castle Oil and Propane is a Michigan-based, family-owned business. With more than 95 EZ Mart convenience store locations, propane and fuel oil service, commercial fuel and bulk lubricant sales, our primary goal is satisfying our customers.

Starting Wage: $8.20 per hour. There will be two pay increases in the first year and annually thereafter.

Qualifications

Requires no prior experience but must possess basic math skills and the aptitude to learn all required job duties. Must be able to figure correct change during transactions. Must present a positive attitude, a neat and clean appearance, excellent customer service skills, and work well with others in a team-oriented environment.

Requires physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds; moving and stacking merchandise; cleaning; sweeping; shoveling snow; and being able to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

Receive payment for customer purchases. Operate equipment to record sales; check in vendors; stock shelves, coolers, and freezers; prepare food; clean interior and exterior of store; monitor customers during the dispensing of fuel. Verify amounts to reconcile and balance cash register transactions. This position represents the first impression our customers have of Blarney Castle Oil Co., and our employees have the primary responsibility to provide excellent customer service in a friendly, pleasant, and efficient manner.
