Job summary

Kelowna Gospel Mission seeks a dependable custodian to maintain a clean, safe facility in Kelowna, BC. The role is part-time with a base pay of $24.00 per hour, and requires handling cleaning chemicals, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and restroom sanitation.

Responsibilities include keeping the building tidy, performing routine maintenance, cleaning floors, gathering trash, and ensuring entryways and exits are safe. Schedule includes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday with 7:30 am to 2:00 pm shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school education or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• WHMIS knowledge or cleaning chemical handling is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Keep building and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, sanitize restrooms and common areas.
• Collect trash and maintain supply readiness.
• Move lightweight furniture as needed and assist with minor maintenance.

We’re looking for a hardworking and reliable custodian to join our rapidly growing team. The custodian is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness of our facilities to the highest level. This includes using cleaning chemicals to maintain equipment and other supplies while dusting, vacuuming, mopping and cleaning restrooms. Bay Ave operates an Overdose Prevention Site with supervised consumption.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep building and property in clean and orderly condition;
• Perform routine maintenance activities;
• Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, wax and shampoo floors;
• Gather and empty trash;
• Scrub, sanitize, and supply restroom facilities;
• Dust furniture, walls, and equipment;
• Clean snow and ice from exits, walkways and parking areas;
• Clean and disinfect washrooms and fixtures;
• May move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies;
• Perform various preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on various facility systems;
• Model KGM values of Compassion, Integrity, Respect, Grace-led, & Transformation;
• Perform other related duties as required.

Position Requirements

• Completion of secondary school education or equivalent;
• Formal training or certificate from a program in building or general maintenance is an asset;
• Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively throughout your shift;
• WHMIS and knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage and disposal is an asset;
• Commercial and residential cleaning experience is an asset;
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds;
• This position is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector).
