Kateri Tekakwitha Academy is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with mild to severe needs in areas including intellectual, emotional/behavioural, learning, hearing and/or vision, communication and language, and physical and/or medical support. The position is temporary full-time (32.5 hours per week) with duties starting as soon as possible until December 18, 2026, with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training is an asset.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is an asset.
• Experience with implementing student Individual Program Plans.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a strong, interdisciplinary team.
• Experience with Positive Behavioral Supports and related strategies.
• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
• Physically able to assist students (running, lifting, toileting).
• Experience at the Elementary level would be beneficial.
• Knowledge/experience with diverse learners on the autism spectrum would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with mild to severe needs in intellectual, emotional/behavioural, learning, hearing/vision, communication and language, and physical/medical areas.
• Duties commence ASAP until December 18, 2026, with possibility of extension.
• Support the Division's goals towards Truth and Reconciliation and work within Christ-centered education values.

• Experience helping to facilitate positive peer interactions among students.


• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.


• Physically able to assist students (i.e. running, lifting, toileting etc.).


• Experience at the Elementary level would be beneficial.


• Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum would be an asset.
