Job summary

Simon Fraser University, through the i2IRII Institute, seeks a Finance & Administrative Coordinator to manage day-to-day financial and administrative operations. You will administer operating, research, project and grant funds, coordinate reporting, and provide guidance on university policies and grant requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Arts, or related field and two years of related experience in financial administration, post-secondary program administration, research administration, or project coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures, financial reporting and reconciliation practices.
  • Good knowledge of Canadian granting agency regulations and research funding administration.
  • Good knowledge of university administrative and financial policies, procedures and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support leadership team of i2IRII and manage day-to-day financial/administrative operations.
  • Administer operating, research, special purpose, project and grant funds; coordinate reporting and compliance.
  • Provide guidance on University financial policies, granting agency requirements, and administrative procedures.

About the Role

The Finance & Administrative Coordinator supports the leadership team of the Invention to Innovation Research and Innovation Institute (i2IRII) and is responsible for the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the institute. The role administers operating, research, special purpose, project and grant funds; coordinates financial reporting and compliance activities; and provides guidance on University financial policies, granting agency requirements, and administrative procedures. The role serves as a key resource for faculty, researchers, staff, and external partners by supporting budget planning, financial administration, human resources processes, procurement, reporting, and operational coordination to ensure the effective delivery of institute programs, projects, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Arts, or a related discipline and two years of related experience in financial administration, post-secondary program administration, research administration, or project coordination, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures, financial reporting and reconciliation practices.
  • Good knowledge of Canadian granting agency regulations and research funding administration.
  • Good knowledge of university administrative and financial policies, procedures and systems.

Additional Information

The assignment end date is March 31, 2028.

This is a hybrid work opportunity with the successful candidate being able to commute two times per week to SFU's Burnaby campus. During special evening events, must be flexible to adjust start and end times to their work day.
