Job summary

SSP Canada is hiring a Cook 2 (Full Time) at Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ) in Toronto. You will receive orders, prepare dishes, and ensure the kitchen is set up so guests receive timely, quality meals.

Typical duties include following recipes, portion checks, unloading deliveries, maintaining equipment, opening/closing procedures, and keeping the workspace clean and organized in a fast-paced airport environment. Experience in food service and a good command of English are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in a food service environment.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Verbal and written communication is essential.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.
• Must be able to obtain Transport Canada security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Follow recipes and ensure correct portions and presentation of dishes.
• Help unload, organize, and store deliveries.
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper functioning of machines.
• Perform opening/closing procedures.
• Tidy up work station and storage areas; manage utensils and cleaning tasks.
• Adhere to hygiene standards through general and specific cleaning as directed by management.

SSP Canada operates multiple restaurants inside the Billy Bishop Airport, including: Balzac's Coffee, Obispo, Market 416.At SSP Canada, our Line Cooks have the important role of receiving food orders, preparing delicious dishes for our guests, properly setting up the kitchen so every Expert has the product and tools easily accessible during their shift.

Here are a few things you can expect as a Line Cook withSSP Canada:

• Follows the recipes, checks the portion of the recipes, the garnishes and present the dishes ordered.
• Help unload, organize, and put delivered products away in the appropriate storage areas.
• Ensures regular maintenance, cleaning and proper functioning of assigned equipment and machines.
• Completes opening / closing procedures
• Put all the utensils used during the shift in its place, clean and tidy up its work place as well as the storage areas (includes refrigerators, freezers), empty, clean and store the bins.
• Practice general and specific cleanings using the appropriate products as indicated by the manager in order to meet hygiene standards.

• One year minimum experience working in food service environment
