Job summary

SSP America in Kelowna International Airport is hiring a Line Cook to receive orders, prepare dishes, and keep the Back of House running smoothly. This position operates in a secure airport environment and RAIC processing is required; candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

You will follow recipes, manage scale and garnishes, set up the kitchen station each shift, handle storage and rotation of foods, and maintain hygiene standards while coordinating with the manager to ensure

Qualifications

• One year minimum experience in food service.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.
• Food handlers permit, as required by law.
• Brand Certification, as required.
• Verbal and written communication is essential.

Responsibilities

• Follow recipes, check portions and garnishes, and present dishes.
• Set up the kitchen/work station each shift and manage orders and storage.
• Handle, store, and rotate stored products properly.
• Keep utensils and workspace clean and organized, including storage areas.
• Perform general cleaning to meet hygiene standards as directed by management.
• Take instructions from the manager and verify stock before leaving to ensure orderliness.

Our restaurant portfolio in the Kelowna International Airport includes: White Spot, Okanagan Vintner's Exchange, Ellison Field, Subway, Tim Hortons, and retail stores.

This position is located in a secure airport environment and a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) is required. All candidates must be legally authorised to work in Canada and must be able to provide the necessary government-issued documentation required for airport security clearance. Documentation will be reviewed during the onboarding process in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. Here are a few things you can expect as a Line Cook at SSP Canada:

• Follows the recipes, checks the portion of the recipes, the garnishes and present the dishes ordered.
• Have the correct and adequate set up in the kitchen / work station at each shift. This includes making orders, storing, storing all fresh, dry, frozen goods; condiments and supplies.
• Handle, store and rotate the stored products properly.
• Put all the utensils used during the shift in its place, clean and tidy up its work place as well as the storage areas (includes refrigerators, freezers), empty, clean and store the bins.
• Practice general and specific cleanings using the appropriate products as indicated by the manager in order to meet hygiene standards.
• Take the instructions from the manager when taking office and take stock with the manager before leaving to make sure everything is in order
