Job summary

Wright Landscape Services Inc. is seeking a motivated landscape assistant to work at multiple sites across the Waterloo Region and Ontario. You will read plans, load materials, lay sod, plant greenery, and operate power tools while maintaining safety at all times.

The role requires 1+ years in landscaping/construction, ability to handle heavy loads, and a willingness to travel between locations. Valid licenses or certifications are assets, and the team prioritizes a clean, organized work

Qualifications

• 1+ years of landscaping and construction experience.
• Experience planting trees and flowers, laying sod, mowing lawns.
• Ability to follow health and safety guidelines at construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, structural drawings, rough sketches and specifications to determine work activities
• Load, unload and transport construction materials
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
• Measure, mark and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed
• Help build stone pathways, patios, fences, decks or retaining walls
• Spread topsoil and lay sod
• Plant flowers, grass, shrubs, and trees
• Install basic mulch, rock beds, or border barriers
• Clean and perform preparation of worksite
• Operate power tools and small machinery
• Health & safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment
• Perform all other tasks which are assigned by management
• Perform other activities at construction sites as directed.

Wage: $30.00 per hour (40 hours per week)

Work Conditions/Job Requirements

• 1 or more years of experience in landscaping & construction work
• Experience in planting trees and flowers, laying sod, mowing lawns, pruning shrubs, spreading mulch
• Valid G Class license is an asset
• First Aid and CPR certificate is an asset
• Physical strength and ability to handle heavy loads (up to 75lbs)
• Physically demanding work; bending, crouching, kneeling; repetitive tasks
• Organization and cleanliness
• Ability to learn and develop practical skills
• Capable of observing all health and safety codes
