Job summary

Newlands Group is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations and support the financial performance of our construction management business in Mississauga. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, project accounting, cash flow management, and strong internal controls.

The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation (preferred), a Bachelor’s in accounting/finance, and at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a project-based environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR/GL and general accounting administration.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in accordance with ASPE.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and financial statements.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, banking activities and short-term financial needs.
• Maintain internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee project-level financial reporting including job costing, WIP, % completion and profitability analysis.
• Support project budgeting, cost tracking, cash flow planning and variance analysis.
• Lead auditing preparations and coordinate with external accountants and stakeholders.
