Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking a detail-oriented Investment Accountant to provide day-to-day investment accounting support across multiple business units and legal entities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely. • 2+ years of investment operations or portfolio administration experience.
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups).
• Knowledge of capital markets, securities, and trade settlement.
• Background in fund accounting is an asset.
• CSC, working towards CFA is a plus.

Job description

Provide day-to-day investment accounting support across multiple business units and legal entities operating under different accounting and reporting requirements. Monitor investment activity to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, completely, and on a timely basis. Investigate and follow up on missing, incorrect, failed, or outstanding investment transactions with the appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Support the accurate accounting and administration of investment purchases, sales, settlements, and other portfolio activity. Coordinate with internal teams, financial institutions, and external service providers to resolve transaction settlement, cash movement, and investment-related discrepancies.

Investment Events & Portfolio Administration

Monitor and process investment-related events, including corporate actions, maturities, principal repayments, income receipts, and other portfolio activities.

Maintain accurate investment and security reference data within the investment accounting system.

Review recurring investment accounting reports, files, and system updates to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Support pricing and valuation activities during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting periods.

Reconciliations & Financial Reporting

Perform investment reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between internal records and external statements. Reconcile investment balances, cash activity, receivables, payables, and other portfolio-related accounts.

Support period-end custody and portfolio reconciliations.

Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.

Ensure investment accounting records and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

Audit, Controls & Documentation

Maintain organized documentation supporting investment accounting activities and internal control requirements.

Coordinate the collection and maintenance of control reports and other documentation from external financial service providers.

Provide supporting documentation and respond to internal and external audit requests.

Assist with audit testing, sample requests, and inquiries related to investment transactions and balances.

Identify and elevate potential process, control, or data issues as appropriate.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

Work collaboratively with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Investment Operations, and external service providers.

Assist with process improvements, system enhancements, and initiatives designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of investment accounting activities.

Support additional projects and responsibilities as required.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or Accounting.


• 2+ years of investment operations or portfolio administration experience.


• Strong Excel skills (pivot Tables, vlookups)


• Knowledge of capital markets, securities, and trade settlement.


• Background in fund accounting can be an asset.


• Will likely have CSC, working towards CFA.

Pay Range $70,000 - $80,000 per year
