Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in Toronto, ON, seeks a CPA-qualified accounting professional to manage investments and oversee onboarding/offboarding, reporting, and investor communications under US GAAP and IFRS.

You will collaborate with external auditors, support tax reporting, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced real estate/investment environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Experience with accounting/consolidation systems (Dynamics, Yardi, JD Edwards, Hyperion, Cognos TM1, SQL, OneStream)

About the Opportunity
  • Manage investments
  • Onboard and offboard investments – including review of organizational structures, review of fund flow in close coordination with tax, open bank accounts, review loan agreements, review cash management agreements, review closing statements, purchase price allocations, onboard third- party property managers, etc.
  • Prepare various financial information and analytics to ensure accuracy of reporting as well as optimal performance
  • Prepare materials for valuation meeting, board meeting and quarterly results meeting
  • Prepare financial and management reporting to ensure accuracy and analyze return goals (IRR, MOC, TWR)
  • Prepare investor capital calls and distributions
  • Monitor liquidity and assess capital needs for the business
  • Reporting – Fund reporting and investment property reporting
  • Prepare financial statements and investor reporting prepared in accordance with US GAAP – Investment Company Accounting and IFRS
  • Prepare quarterly reporting deliverables, including board meeting materials
  • Assist with the external audit and tax reporting process with big 4 firms
  • Support value‑add initiatives
  • Assist with process & system enhancements with focus on scalability for future growth and improving efficiency
  • Assist as needed with due diligence related to refinancing, dispositions, development and re‑ development
  • Assist and liaise with tax consultant, as necessary for real estate tax reassessment and appeals
About You
  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA preferred) with at least 3 years of progressive work experience with a mix of public accounting and industry experience
  • Superior communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; able to interact professionally with various levels of internal & external stakeholders
  • Exceptionally organized, self‑motivated and proactive, with proven ability to prioritize and deliver results independently, while working together with a team in a fast‑paced environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in accounting / consolidation systems (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics, Yardi, JD Edwards, Hyperion, Cognos TM1, SQL, OneStream, etc.) and adaptability with learning new applications
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving ability
  • Experience in real estate or working experience in industry is preferred, an understanding of financial markets and having an interest in real estate is also a plus.
Salary Range

$100,000 - $105,000 / year

Location

Must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada.
