Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Personal Support Worker in Canada to provide compassionate personal care and assist with activities of daily living under supervision. The role requires PSW program completion, current CPR/First Aid, and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

You will observe resident needs, document changes, and support families while maintaining confidentiality and safety. Eligible candidates bring strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 600 hours in Ontario & Alberta)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Must have current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification
• Ability to lift/transferring clients and provide personal care duties
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the plan of care as determined by the supervisor
• Assist residents with personal care and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in residents' condition to supervisor
• Escalate medical emergencies as appropriate
• Assist in preparing nutritious meals as required
• Maintain a safe and clean environment and observe confidentiality
• Engage with residents, family, and other agencies involved in care
• Participate in in-services to develop knowledge and skills
• Uphold Extendicare's values and conduct
