Job summary

Optima Living in British Columbia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our care team. Reporting to the Director of Care, you will collaborate to deliver high-quality resident care and promote a respectful, safe environment.

You will help develop personal care plans, administer medications, assist with move-ins/outs, and support Health Care Aides while adhering to privacy regulations and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
• Current license to practice from the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Active CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience in residential care or mental health is an asset.
• Therapeutic approach to delivery of care.
• Mentor Health Care Aides and collaborate with team.

Responsibilities

• Participates in development of resident personal care or service plans.
• Recommends and implements changes to resident care plans as needed.
• Maintains accurate records of resident conditions and care requirements.
• Assists with move ins/outs, palliative care, and end-of-life care with dignity.
• Administers medications and provides direct nursing care as needed.
• Communicates with interdisciplinary team, doctors, residents and families.
• Assists physician with examinations and diagnostic measures when requested.
• Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care and reports changes.
• Directs and supports Health Care Aides in care delivery.
• Participates in orientation of new team members.
• Responds to emergency codes per protocols.
• Ensures infection control and privacy compliance.
