JOB DESCRIPTION

A motivated Communications student will play a key role during a high‑energy period, supporting major events like the Keel Laying/Milestone Event and Family Day through hands‑on coordination, on‑site assistance, and the creation of engaging communications materials. This role helps the team manage increased demand without sacrificing quality, contributing to event logistics, day‑of execution, and ongoing communications needs such as content development and internal messaging.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support internal campaigns/initiatives for various departments across the business.
  • Support company events by working cross functionally to ensure a positive experience for guests and participants.
  • Develop related communications materials.
  • Support graphic design projects for internal or external purposes while maintaining brand alignment.
  • Adapt internal content from various departments to issue to the workforce.
  • Ensure communications are accurate, informative, and engaging to employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program, specifically Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations.
  • 0-2 years of work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and open to learning new programs,
  • Skilled in long and short form writing.
  • Understand basic communications practices and principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in organizing and managing a variety of tasks with varying priorities and is a fast learner and effective problem solver.
  • Interest in the shipbuilding, defense, or marine industry and a desire to join an exciting, fast‑paced organization.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence.
