Join to apply for the Collections Supervisor role at GFL Environmental Inc.

The Collection Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the collections team to ensure efficient recovery of outstanding accounts while maintaining professionalism and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach to resolve delinquent accounts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise and support the collections team, ensuring productivity and adherence to company guidelines.
  2. Monitor and analyze delinquent accounts, developing strategies to reduce bad debt.
  3. Establish and track performance metrics for collectors, providing guidance and training as needed (KPIs).
  4. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company collection policies.
  5. Assist with escalated collection cases, negotiating payment plans when necessary.
  6. Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation of collections activity.
  7. Collaborate with Region/Sales teams to address outstanding balances while maintaining positive relationships.
  8. Provide regular progress reports, statistical analysis, and insights to the management team.
  9. Develop progress spreadsheets and reporting tools for tracking collections.
  10. Adapt to change and learn new processes as the business evolves.
  11. Lead monthly meetings with the Collections team to discuss KPIs and resolve outstanding issues.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience in collections and supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance regulations and financial processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a team effectively, providing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Proficiency in collections software and reporting tools.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience analyzing delinquent accounts, and coordinating collection strategies to minimize bad debt. The Collection Supervisor must also maintain positive customer relationships, negotiate payment plans when necessary, and collaborate with internal departments to resolve disputes.
