The Contingent Labour Office’s (CLO) mandate is to partner with the business to enable an expedited and customer-centric positive approach to engaging external resources. At the same time, balancing the commercial needs of the business with mitigating risk to the firm. This mandate is achieved by :
- Utilizing internal contingent workforce expert practitioners, who continuously expand their skills and remain up-to-date on market intelligence.
- Acting as trusted advisors, to educate, challenge the status quo, and advise the business on creative approaches to find the right solutions.
- Delivering a customer-centric approach to the business and external resources by minimizing administration efforts, anticipating their needs, projecting a ‘how can I help you’ attitude, and actively collaborating with Hiring Managers to deepen relationships.
Location : Anywhere in Canada will be considered, virtual work opportunity (1-2 days in office per month may be required for company meetings)
What You Will Do
Reporting to the Leader of the Contract Labour Office (CLO), the Contract Manager will execute processes and solve challenges related to external resources - during the initial setup, while on contract, and when renewing or departing - for all functions and locations across Canada (the CLO processes 1000+ external resources per year of varying size - from individual to multi-million dollar organizations). The Contract Manager :
- Applies technical expertise to advise, guide, and support Hiring Managers in the engagement of external resources, critical to meeting the needs of their clients / projects.
- Independently works on multifaceted complex cases, escalations, and requests to result in effective and timely resolution.
- Handles complex contract revisions, risk assessments, change management, and manages difficult relationships.
- Addresses matters related to classification, conflicts, Partner-level resources, immigration, taxation, data security, international services, security requirements, acquisitions, external-client resources, member-firm agreements, offshore resources, alliances, negotiations, and more.
- Collaborates with internal experts like Legal, Risk Management, Procurement, ITS Security, Finance, and external service providers.
- Works on high-risk cases involving legislative compliance, firm policies, independence, tax, immigration, and data security.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to :
- Case Management (Standard) : Manage cases within KPMG’s vendor management system (Flextrack), train clients, gather and interpret information, conduct due diligence, advise stakeholders, and maintain records.
- Case Management (Complex) : Manage escalations, negotiate contracts, draft clauses, assess risks, support change management, and manage challenging relationships.
- Continuous Improvement / Projects : Recommend process improvements, stay current on legislation, lead or participate in projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Miscellaneous : Respond to inquiries, provide reporting, handle escalations, lead education sessions, contribute to firm objectives, and mentor team members.
What You Bring To The Role
- College or University degree in a relevant field.
- 5+ years’ experience with contract labour or contingent workforce management, including case management and drafting agreements.
- Experience with immigration matters related to resourcing.
- Ability to act as a trusted advisor, manage multiple stakeholders, and handle complex cases.
- Attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage priorities.
- Continuous improvement mindset and operational success in process initiatives.
- Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel; legal or ServiceNow experience is an asset.
This position requires fluency in English. Support and collaboration with English-speaking colleagues / stakeholders are essential.
