A leading company in the insurance sector is looking for a Claims Specialist in Toronto, focused on handling Casualty claims. This role involves assessing coverage, managing communications with stakeholders, and ensuring proactive resolutions for claims. Ideal candidates should have strong communication skills, be customer-oriented, and working toward a CIP or CRM designation.
Intermediate level in a Bodily Injury / Casualty and Litigation claims handling role.
Experience with managing both Commercial General Liability (CGL) and Auto Bodily Injury claims.
Obtained or working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation preferred.
customer service oriented
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Wellorganized; ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities.
Very collaborative and works well in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Claims Specialist Casualty

As a Torontobased Claims Specialist Casualty you will play a critical role in AXA XLs claims for the Casualty team. Expect to work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution and to interact and collaborate frequently with Underwriting teams. Together you will be tasked with achieving the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.
What youll be DOING
Assessing coverage and preparing relevant correspondence to communicate to brokers and insured when applicable.
Providing directions to independent adjusters in investigating claims.
Evaluating and negotiating timely resolutions on assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions.
Partnering with internal and external counsel in setting and pursuing effective and costefficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation.
Coordinating and managing communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Underwriting brokers reinsurers external vendors etc.) to ensure the highest level of customer service. Participation in new account and renewal meetings may be required.
Consulting with Claims management and Claims Legal as warranted on Large Losses and ensuring all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome.
Maintaining file notes preparing internal reporting timely reserving issuing payments and setting of electronic file diary are in accordance with best practices guidelines.
Identifying monitoring and reporting on emerging trends in the insurance industry and legislative changes.
