About the Role:
Are you experienced in the handling of property and commercial liability claims? Do you embrace the challenge of handling claims of all severity while providing market leading customer service? This is a rare opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our dynamic Canada Claims team with the backing of Swiss Re's strong industry reputation.
Reporting to the Head of Claims Canada, we are seeking a claims professional with a real passion for providing exceptional customer service. Employing excellent adjudications skills, you will independently handle property, professional liability and casualty claims from first notice to resolution while also working closely with the underwriting and products team. We are looking for someone with data analytics skills as we build the Claims Team of the future. If you are a proactive claim professional, a strategic thinker and confident decision maker who is organized and can work well both independently and as part of a team we would love to talk to you about this role. We are looking for someone who also has an interest in career development and the desire to further develop their skills. Your responsibilities:
• Handle a caseload of Property, Casualty, and Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims from first report to final resolution
• Direct independent adjusters, appraisers, experts and coverage/defense counsel
• Maintain strong customer focus by aggressively and proactively researching issues, providing support and assuring customer satisfaction in a timely fashion
• Support Underwriting team needs for claim information and consultation on coverages
• Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution
• Complete detailed reviews of claim-related issues, including coverage, liability and damage and document the claim file appropriately
• Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves
• Travel up to 10% of the time to attend client/broker meetings, mediations, trials, etc.
• Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements

About You:

• 1-3 years' experience handling property, casualty and/or professional liability (E&O) claims
• Proficient at analyzing and presenting claims data and trends using tools such as Excel and PowerPoint
• A university degree or equivalent
• Bilingual in English/French is an asset
• Possess or willing to pursue CIP designation
• Possess or willing to acquire adjuster licenses as needed for various jurisdictions (i.e.: New Brunswick, Newfoundland, PEI)
• Strong analytical, negotiation and influencing skills
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
• Self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision
