Job summary

Wilco Contractors Northwest is hiring Foremen in the Edmonton region. You will lead crews in grading, earthworks, underground utilities, and hardscape work. The role emphasizes safety, mentoring, and delivering complex projects on time.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as foreman or superintendent, civil focus preferred.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Solid understanding of equipment operation and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews in safe, efficient execution of construction activities.
• Participate in field planning, execution, quantity verification, and quality control.
• Communicate project needs to the Superintendent (manpower, materials, equipment).
• Coordinate daily work activities based on priorities and schedules.
• Supervise safe use of tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Ensure work meets Wilco's quality standards and timelines.
• Monitor subcontractors for adherence to specs and schedules.
• Mentor crew members per Wilco procedures and safe work practices.
• Foster a positive, accountable, safety-focused team culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead crews in the safe and efficient execution of construction activities.
• Actively participate in field construction, including planning, execution, quantity verification, and quality control.
• Communicate upcoming project needs to the Superintendent, including manpower, materials, and equipment requirements.
• Coordinate daily work activities based on project priorities and schedules.
• Supervise the safe and effective use of equipment, tools, and machinery.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Wilco's high-quality standards.
• Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules.
• Train, mentor, and develop crew members in accordance with Wilco procedures and safe work practices.
• Foster a positive team environment built on accountability, communication, and safety.

• Proven experience as construction superintendent or foreman, civil preferred.
• Must possess strong leadership/mentorship and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of equipment operation.
• Strong numeracy skills, record keeping and technology usage.
• Ability to read and execute plans, read grade stakes and use laser level.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Work Unsupervised with a 3-5 person crew.
• Have advanced knowledge of the fundamental principals of landscaping including grading, planting and hardscape.
• Promote a positive team culture across all departments and job sites with a focus on safety first and continuous improvement.
• Valid drivers license.
