Job summary

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our Edmonton-area team. You will safely operate excavators, read grades and plans, and work closely with foremen and crews on diverse civil projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of excavator experience, strong teamwork, and a commitment to safety. CSTS and Ground Disturbance certification are required. This full-time position offers reliable hours and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience operating an Excavator.
• Ability to interpret grades, stakes, plans, and site instructions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and meet job demands.
• CSTS and Ground Disturbance certification are required.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate Excavator for loading trucks, trenching, and site work.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and complete pre-trip/post-trip documentation.
• Conduct routine maintenance and identify mechanical concerns.
• Read grades, stakes, plans, and site instructions to guide operations.
• Collaborate with Foremen, Gradepersons, Labourers, and Project Teams.
• Maintain production while ensuring quality workmanship.
• Follow safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Contribute to a positive, professional team environment.

What You'll Do

• Safely and efficiently operate Excavator as it applies to loading trucks, cut to fill, trenching, ditching, sloping, etc
• Perform daily equipment inspections and complete pre-trip and post-trip documentation
• Conduct routine maintenance and identify mechanical concerns
• Read grades, stakes, plans, and site instructions
• Work closely with Foremen, Gradepersons, Labourers, and Project Teams
• Maintain production while ensuring quality workmanship
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices
• Contribute to a positive, professional team environment

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years experience operating Excavator
• Experience operating multiple types of machinery is considered an asset
• Ability to interpret survey stakes accurately
• Physically able to meet job demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Capable of adapting to varying job site conditions and challenges
• Must hold a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation
• CSTS and Ground Disturbance certification are a condition of employment
