Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Leader to manage multi-provincial payroll operations across provinces and territories, ensuring full CPP, EI, and tax compliance. You will oversee the full payroll lifecycle and train managers and staff on time entry processes.

The role requires 7+ years of Canadian payroll experience, PLP certification, and strong knowledge of provincial employment standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive Canadian payroll experience with multi-provincial expertise, including Quebec's distinct system.
• PLP certification required.
• Expert-level understanding of Canadian federal/provincial employment legislation, payroll regulations, and tax compliance.
• Experience interpreting complex legislation and applying it to unique situations.
• Strong experience with enterprise payroll systems (Workday, ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce).
• Proven ability to configure systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize functionality.
• Expert Excel skills including pivot tables and advanced formulas.

Responsibilities

• Lead accurate, timely multi-provincial payroll processing across all Canadian provinces and territories, ensuring CPP, EI, and tax withholdings compliance.
• Oversee the full payroll lifecycle including hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and complex off-cycle payments.
• Provide training to managers and employees for time card entry.
• Maintain expert knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation including Employment Standards and CRA requirements.
• Prepare and submit critical government filings (T4/T4A, ROEs, EHT, WSIB).
• Lead audit preparations and identify compliance risks proactively.
• Act as payroll system SME, driving automation and best practices.
• Lead system upgrades, integrations, and implementations with HR, Finance, IT.
• Handle escalated inquiries with confidentiality.
• Partner on compensation strategy, budgeting, and workforce planning.
• Generate analytics for executive review including cost analysis and trend forecasting.
• Provide mentoring to payroll staff locally and offshore.
• Ensure accuracy and build team capability through documentation.
