CASUAL – AS-NEEDED / ON-CALL COVERAGE

HOURLY RATE: $18.60/HOUR

LOCATION: KENJGEWIN TEG MAIN CAMPUS AND ANISHINABEK SKILLS, INNOVATION AND RESEARCH CENTRE IN M’CHIGEENG

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Casual Receptionist provides front-line reception coverage and helps create a welcoming and professional first point of contact for students, staff, visitors, and members of the public. This role is responsible for greeting individuals as they arrive, admitting students and visitors into the building, answering and directing phone calls, responding to general inquiries, and providing basic information about Kenjgewin Teg programs and services. The Casual Receptionist also supports regular reception duties to help ensure day-to-day front desk operations run smoothly, including supporting department staff as required. The Casual Receptionist will have an appreciation of Anishinabek culture, principles, values, language, history, and customs, and will be supportive of Anishinabek practices and protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Secondary school diploma or GED, or an acceptable combination of education and work experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • First Aid certification is required.
  • Mental Health First Aid First Nations certification is preferred.
  • Naloxone training is preferred.

Please note that Kenjgewin Teg is willing to build capacity for applicants who do not currently possess additional required training.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
  • Ability to write simple correspondence, including emails and letters.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable with flexible availability for casual, as-needed/on-call coverage.
  • Previous reception, office, or customer service experience would be an asset.
