Job summary

BrightPath Kanata Centre in Ottawa is seeking an Early Childhood Educator/Assistant for a casual/supply/substitute role. You will work alongside teachers and families to create a home-like environment, supporting children's growth and learning.

You will assist with classroom instruction, promote child safety, build positive relationships with children and families, and participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• Early Childhood Assistant Certification or RECE preferred.
• Certification or training relevant to early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction in the classroom.
• Maintain an environment that protects children's well-being.
• Interact with children to encourage participation in activities.
• Establish collaborative relationships with coworkers, management and families.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

What will you be doing?

As an Early Childhood Educator/Assistant, you will work side-by-side with teachers and families to provide a home away from home for children in our care. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with instruction in the classroom.
• Maintaining an environment that protects the well-being of children.
• Interacting with children to encourage their involvement in activities.
• Establishing collaborative relationships with co-workers, management, and families.
• Attending staff meetings and professional development opportunities as necessary.
• Working to maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School/Equivalent required, Early Childhood Assistant Certification, or Registered Early Childhood Educator
• Must meet province requirement for childcare employment
• Current Standard First Aid and infant child CPR
• Current immunization and health assessment as per the local Minister of Health Requirements
• Experience in planning and implementing programs.
