Job summary

Mt Seymour is seeking a full-time Buildings Maintenance Technician with plumbing and carpentry experience to join our Operations team in North Vancouver.

The role covers building maintenance, minor electrical work, and assisting with Mt Seymour's water and wastewater systems. You will work with the Maintenance Supervisor to complete work orders and help with renovations, while ensuring compliance with building codes, WorkSafe BC, and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of building maintenance experience and/or Red Seal plumbing trade preferred.
  • Knowledge of heating, electrical, plumbing, and painting.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge required.
  • Water operator ticket or water testing experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with managers, supervisors and co-workers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work under pressure in a high-volume environment with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions in mountainous terrain.
  • Supportive team member.
  • Flexible shifts including weekends and evenings during winter operating season, with potential extension to year-round position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and carry out building maintenance including plumbing, carpentry and minor electrical.
  • Assist in operating Mt Seymour's water and wastewater systems.
  • Coordinate with Building Maintenance Supervisor to complete work orders promptly.
  • Maintain all buildings, structures and facilities (plumbing, carpentry, painting, heating, appliances).
  • Assist in projects such as installing new equipment and renovations.
  • Coordinate maintenance across all facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with ECOP and VCH requirements for water systems.
  • Ensure adherence to building codes and WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
  • Support a flexible shift schedule during operating season.

Job description

Mt Seymour is a winter recreation area located in North Vancouver. We are currently seeking a full time, Buildings Maintenance Technician with plumbing/carpentry experience to join our Operations team.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Buildings Maintenance Technician is a hands-on position, responsible for overseeing and carrying out all aspects of building maintenance including plumbing, carpentry and minor electrical. This position also assists with the operation of Mt Seymour's water and wastewater systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with the Building Maintenance Supervisor to complete work orders in a timely cost-effective manner
  • Carrying out maintenance required in all buildings, structures, and facilities in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, heating, and appliances.
  • Assist is building projects such as installing new equipment, and renovations and small construction projects through out the resort.
  • Assist in the coordination of maintenance requirements in all buildings, structures, and facilities.
  • The maintenance and monitoring of domestic water and sewage treatment systems, including the recording and reporting of all required information to meet ECOP and VCH requirements.
  • To ensure that all building maintenance work performed is in adherence to all building code and WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe workplace
  • To ensure a high standard in all finished work, while remaining cost effective.
  • To ensure the adherence of health and safety regulations when performing tasks.
  • Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience in providing building maintenance services and/or red seal plumbing trade preferred.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Full-time, year roundposition
  • Family Season’s Pass.
  • Shuttle Bus Pass.
  • Works 5 days out of 7 in the winter operating season, and 4-ten-hour shifts during mid-May to October.
