Job summary

Mt Seymour is seeking a Building Services Custodian to clean our resort buildings and facilities, ensuring outstanding cleanliness for guests. This role includes thorough cleaning of Rock Chute, Grillwork’s Cafeteria, Whiskey Jack room, Harold’s Café and Cedar room, plus washrooms and room setup.

You must be able to work day/evening shifts, weekends and holidays, stand for 8 hours, lift up to 30 lbs, and follow WHMIS guidelines; seasonal position with added benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a fast-paced resort environment.
• Must be available for day/evening shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for 8 hours.
• Exposure to WHMIS and safe cleaning practices.
• Experience in janitorial or facilities cleaning is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Thorough cleaning of assigned resort areas and washrooms.
• Prepare rooms and spaces for bookings and events.
• Remove garbage and recyclables from offices and public areas.
• Maintain safe operation of cleaning equipment and follow WHMIS guidelines.

Job description

Title: Building Services Custodian
Department: Mountain Operations
Reports to: Mountain Communications and Facilities Manager

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Building Services Custodian is responsible for cleaning our resort buildings and facilities providing outstanding cleanliness to our guests. To make sure all garbage areas are free of trash, clean, and tidy.

Responsibilites:

• Execution of department responsibilities including:
  • Thorough cleaning of the Rock Chute, Grillwork’s Cafeteria and Whiskey Jack room including entrances and washrooms.
  • Thorough cleaning of Harold’s Café and Cedar room including entrances and washrooms.
  • Thorough cleaning washrooms.
  • Clean and set up for room bookings.
  • Responsible for the periodic cleaning of Rentals & Retail, Guest Services, Patrol, Administration, Operations offices and other staff areas.
  • Regular garbage, organics and recycling removal from office and public areas.
• Perform tasks as safely as possible throughout all job duties.
• Be a positive role-model and assist other employees and guests of the resort as required.
• Appropriate and safe use of cleaning products. Follow the guidelines and rules set out by WHMIS.
• Upkeep and maintenance of all janitorial equipment.
• Other related duties as required for the success of the mountain operation.

• Ability to be a supportive team member beyond the Building Services department.
• You are available for PM/Evening shifts.

WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM YOU:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to be a supportive team member.
• Must be available for day/evening shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Must be physically able to:
  • Carry approximately 30 lbs. of equipment/gear for up to 1 km.
  • Clean and maintain all facilities as outlined in the Building Services Manual.
  • Sustain physical activity for 8 working hours.
  • Stand for 8 working hours.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
• Assets:
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license or international equivalent.
  • Experience driving and working in winter & mountain conditions.
  • Enrollment or completion of a recognized janitorial program.
  • Previous janitorial experience considered an asset.
  • WHMIS certification.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Seasonal position, now throughto mid-April.
• $21 - $22 per hour, depending on experience.
• Complimentary seasons pass and shuttle bus pass.
