Job summary

Martinrea International Inc. in Vaughan, Canada, seeks a brake press operator to produce parts meeting customer quality and output targets in a safe plant environment.

Responsibilities include bending, forming and cutting metal sheets, programming and setting up brake presses, and ensuring adherence to QA requirements while coordinating with Quality and Engineering teams.

  • Operate the brake press to bend, form, and cut metal sheets.
  • Interface with Quality and Engineering.
  • Notify lead hand or supervisors of any unsafe equipment or practices.

Job Summary

Responsible for the production of parts that meet customer requirements in quality and output in a safe fashion.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience with Metal Fabrication an asset
  • 2 years experience with brakepress
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to use Tape Measure, Vernier and other measuring tools
  • Ability to identify and change Brake Press toolsAbility to work independently or with supervision
  • Capable to lift up to 50lbs or 23 kilograms from ground to table level
  • Mathematical aptitude
Essential Functions
  • Assure that 1st off/1st Part is inspected and meets Quality Assurance requirements
  • Bend parts according to provided drawings and specifications
  • Completion of data entry and/or paperwork as required
  • Program, set up Machines to meet customer requirements in output and quality

Operating the brake press to bend, form, and cut metal sheets.

  • Interface with Quality and Engineering
  • Must notify lead hand and/or supervisors of all dysfunctional and/or unsafe equipment or work practices
Work Environment
  • 100% Plant floor (PPE required)
  • Constant communication with employees, peers and management
  • Overtime as required
Health, Safety and Environment:
  • Must work in accordance with health and safety regulations, company rules, plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company.
  • All employees are prohibited from walking under a suspended hoist, cranes or forklifts.
  • All employees must follow all LOTO procedures
  • Comply with all environmental requirements including our recycling program.
