Job summary

MTtalent is seeking a Business Development Manager for the CPG/Retail sector to drive new retailer opportunities across Canada and the U.S. in an in-office Montreal setting with travel.

The ideal candidate has 2–5+ years in CPG or retail business development, is bilingual in French/English, and excels at opening new retail accounts, securing listings, and building strong buyer relationships.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of experience in CPG, food, retail sales, or business development.
• Bilingual (FR/EN).
• Proven experience selling products into retail organizations.
• Experience with smaller or mid-sized CPG brands and retailers is strongly preferred.
• Track record of developing and opening new retail accounts.
• Experience securing new product listings, shelf space, SKUs, or distribution.
• Strong ability to sell products that do not yet have significant consumer awareness.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue strategic new retail opportunities across your assigned Canadian or U.S. market.
• Build a pipeline of prospective grocery, mass, club, convenience, pharmacy, and other retail accounts.
• Prospect and develop relationships with buyers, category managers, merchants, procurement teams, and other key decision-makers.
• Find creative ways to open doors with difficult-to-reach retail organizations.
• Negotiate opportunities and work toward winning new shelf space, SKUs, and distribution.
• Manage the business development process from initial prospecting through to securing the account.
• Help develop newly acquired customers by identifying opportunities for additional products, SKUs, locations, and regions.
• Work cross-functionally with internal sales, marketing, operations, quality, and product teams to successfully launch new accounts.
• Attend customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows as required.
