Job summary

Carletto, the latest restaurant from Gray Collection in Ottawa, is seeking a Bartender to provide hospitality and craft beverages from our café and bar menus, while ensuring quality and consistency.

You will greet guests, prepare drinks per recipes, handle transactions, assist with seating and room service, maintain sanitation, and work with the team to meet high-volume demands.

Qualifications

• Exceptional knowledge of beverages and legally allowed to serve alcohol (Smart Serve certified).
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and French, verbally and in writing.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for hospitality.
• Strong work ethic with a desire to achieve team goals.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time during high-volume and busy times.
• Physically able to move quickly, bend, and reach; stand/walk 8+ hours and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Flexible schedule with availability on evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Valid work permit required.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly, assist with seating and answer phone inquiries.
• Prepare and serve beverage orders according to recipes and timing.
• Interact with guests, assess needs, and make recommendations.
• Handle cash and card transactions and maintain the bar till.
• Take and process room service orders and deliver when possible.
• Maintain product quality by following recipes and standards.
• Set up, clean, and close the bar, maintaining sanitation and organization.
• Restock supplies, prepare garnishes, and ensure product availability.
• Receive and manage inventory, including rotation and stock control.
• Use equipment safely and according to training; follow health and safety regulations.
• Maintain clear communication and teamwork with staff and management.

The Bartender provides a high level of hospitality to guests by preparing and serving beverages and food items from the café and bar menus. They follow all steps of service while ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with food and beverage standards. They also prepare beverage orders for the dining room and support overall service operations. The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take and process room service orders, delivering them when possible
• Maintain product quality by following established recipes and presentation standards
• Set up, clean, and close the bar while maintaining organization and sanitation standards
• Restock supplies, prepare garnishes and mixes, and ensure product availability
• Receive and manage inventory, including rotation and stock control
• Use equipment safely and according to training
• Maintain clear communication and teamwork with staff and management
• Uphold professional appearance, attitude, and company standards at all times
• Follow all health and safety regulations and report unsafe conditions

QUALIFICATIONS

• Exceptional knowledge of relevant beverages and legally allowed to serve alcohol (Smart Serve certified)
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English and French
• Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for hospitality
• Possess a strong work ethic with a desire to achieve team goals
• Ability to prioritize and manage your time during high volume and busy times
• Being physically able to move quickly, bend, and reach throughout your shift; able to stand and walk for long periods of time 8+ hours and lift at least 50 pounds
• Flexible schedule with availability on evenings, weekends and holidays
• Valid work permit required
