Job summary

Commissionaires is seeking a vigilant security professional for CFB Esquimalt to provide frontline client service, enforce regulations, and serve as a fire warden. The role supports safety across the base, indoors and outdoors, with varied weather conditions and shift patterns.

The position requires English fluency, a valid BC security license (or willingness to obtain), and solid incident reporting. Training and advancement opportunities are provided by this not-for-profit security leader.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Ability to remain alert while on duty.
  • Ability to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a BC security worker's license.
  • Be comfortable using computers.
  • Fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
  • Have a positive attitude with a professional demeanour.
  • Have excellent attention to complete incident report writing.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable handling emergencies in a calm manner – training & support will be provided.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service to clients.
  • Read and understand Maritime Pacific Single Quarter’s Regulations.
  • Act as building Fire Warden.
  • Work outside in various weather conditions for general cleaning/upkeep.
  • Complete March In/Out routines.
  • Complete rounds of building.
  • Complete damage reports.
  • Submit work orders with Real Property Operations.
  • Maintain key control.
  • Maintain building safety equipment (first aid kits, eye wash stations, emergency showers, earthquake survival kits).
  • Prepare linen exchanges.
  • Report to BAccnO regarding needs for linen, furniture, supplies, etc.
  • Use Microsoft Office suite of software including: MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Work, MS Access, MS PowerPoint.
  • Extensively use Base Accommodation software (MS Access and QuickQuarters).
  • Liaise with outside agencies such as Preventative Medicine, Real Property Operations, DND Fire Services, and other units to ensure reservations needs are understood.
  • Execute emergency procedures (fire, active shooter, earthquake, building evacuations, etc.).
  • Be responsible to the Base Accommodation’s Officer and Base Administration Chain of Command.
  • Use POS equipment to process debit/credit payments.
