Job summary

Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands & Yukon is hiring for a security position at CFB Esquimalt – Accommodations. You will provide customer service, enforce regulations, and act as Fire Warden in varying weather conditions.

The role requires English fluency, legal work eligibility in Canada, and ability to perform incident reporting. Starting wage is $23.80/hr with opportunities for training, benefits, and advancement within a union setting.

Qualifications

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal).
• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to complete incident reports clearly and accurately.
• Experience with security-related duties is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to clients.
• Read and understand Maritime Pacific Single Quarter’s Regulations.
• Act as building Fire Warden.
• Work outside in various weather conditions for general cleaning/upkeep.
• Complete March In/Out routines and rounds of building.
• Submit work orders with Real Property Operations.
• Maintain building safety equipment (first aid kits, eye wash stations, emergency showers, earthquake kits).
• Use Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
• Extensively use Base Accommodation software (MS Access and QuickQuarters).
• Liaise with agencies to coordinate reservations needs.
• Execute emergency procedures (fire, earthquakes, evacuations).
• Use POS equipment to process payments.

Starting Wage: $23.80/hr

Job Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to clients
• Read and understand Maritime Pacific Single Quarter’s Regulations
• Act as building Fire Warden
• Work outside in various weather conditions for general cleaning/upkeep
• Complete March In/Out routines
• Complete rounds of building
• Submit work orders with Real Property Operations
• Maintain building safety equipment (first aid kits, eye wash stations, emergency showers, earthquake survival kits)
• Report to BAccnO regarding needs for linen, furniture, supplies, etc.
• Use Microsoft Office suite of software including: MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Work, MS Access, MS PowerPoint
• Extensively use Base Accommodation software (MS Access and QuickQuarters)
• Liaise with outside agencies such as Preventative Medicine, Real Property Operations, DND Fire Services, and other units to ensure reservations needs are understood
• Execute emergency procedures (fire, active shooter, earthquake, building evacuations, etc.)
• Be responsible to the Base Accommodation’s Officer and Base Administration Chain of Command
• Use POS equipment to process debit/credit payments

Qualifications and Experience

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Ability to remain alert while on duty.
• Ability to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
• Possess or be willing to obtaina valid BC security worker's license.
• Be comfortable using computers.
• Fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
• Have a positive attitude with a professional demeanour.
• Have excellent attention to complete incident report writing.
• Have excellent problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable handling emergencies in a calm manner – training & support will be provided.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
