Job summary

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is seeking a Baker to prepare fresh breads, pastries, buns and specialty baked goods for the resort’s Alpine and Nordic lodges. You will maintain production schedules and food safety standards in a fast-paced bakery environment.

The position is seasonal and located at Mt. Washington, Comox Valley, with opportunities for on-site training and growth within the food and beverage team.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in baking breads, pastries, buns and specialty items.
  • Able to follow recipes and production schedules accurately.
  • Strong knowledge of ingredients, measurements and portion control.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in a busy bakery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, bake and finish a variety of breads, buns, pastries and specialty baked goods.
  • Follow production schedules and quality standards to ensure consistency.
  • Prepare and package baked goods for service at resort lodges.
  • Maintain a clean, organized bakery and care for equipment and work areas.
  • Monitor inventory, communicate supply needs and rotate ingredients.
  • Comply with all food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain production and inventory records.
  • Collaborate with kitchen teams to meet service demands and adjust production as needed.

Job Summary

As a Baker, you’ll prepare fresh breads, pastries, buns, and specialty baked goods for the resort’s Alpine and Nordic lodges. You’ll help deliver high-quality products while maintaining production schedules, and food safety standard. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, bake and finish a variety of breads, buns, pastries and specialty baked goods
  • Follow recipes, production schedules, portion guidelines, and quality standards to ensure consistency
  • Prepare, package, and coordinate baked goods for service at the Alpine and Nordic lodges
  • Maintain a clean, organized bakery while cleaning and caring for equipment and work areas
  • Monitor inventory, communicate supply needs, and properly store, label, and rotate ingredients
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures
  • Maintain accurate production and inventory records
  • Collaborate with kitchen teams to meet service demands and adjust production as needed
  • Support the broader food and beverage team during busy periods and contribute to a positive, team-focused work environment
QualificationsRequired Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous professional baking or pastry experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, recipes, ingredient functions, portion control, and consistency standards
  • Ability to produce high-quality baked goods efficiently in a high-volume environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to follow production schedules and meet established deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and able to communicate effectively across multiple locations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of mountain activities, resort operations, or food service environments would be an asset
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, lift, and move quickly for extended periods
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs of ingredients, trays, supplies, or equipment
  • Able to perform repetitive mixing, shaping, baking, packaging, cleaning, lifting, and carrying tasks
  • Comfortable working in hot, busy, and fast-paced bakery and kitchen environments
  • Ability to safely work around ovens, hot trays, sharp tools, mixers, wet floors, and other bakery equipment
  • Ability to prepare products for transport between resort locations
  • Availability to work early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak resort periods as required
