Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited in Gormley, ON is hiring a safe, customer‑focused Delivery Driver to join our team. You will load, transport and deliver trench shoring and safety equipment, perform thorough pre‑ and post‑inspections, and maintain accurate delivery records.

The ideal candidate has a valid AZ license with a clean abstract, 3–5 years of commercial driving in construction, comfort with 18‑speed manual transmission, city routes, and is willing to overtime.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up trench-related shoring and safety equipment.
• Load/unload equipment and secure load per procedures.
• Complete daily pre-inspections and post-inspections; maintain logs and timesheets.
• Inform supervisor of delivery/pickup issues and new sales opportunities.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records; ensure customers receive correct items.
• Keep truck clean and in professional condition.

What You’ll Be Doing Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver and pick-up trench related shoring and safety equipment.
• Load and unload the equipment for transportation, securing load per company procedure.
• Inspect in transit if necessary.
• Complete thorough and accurate daily pre-inspections and post-inspections, regulatory logs and timesheets.
• Check gas, oil and other fluid levels.
• Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get customer’s signature.
• Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets.
• Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
• Help with general labour duties in the yard as required (operating forklift, organizing equipment, cleaning equipment, etc.).
• Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.

What You’ll Bring to the Team Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid AZ driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• 3-5 years of commercial driving experience, preferably in the construction industry (or closely related field), transporting heavy loads.
• Comfortable with 18-speed manual transmission.
• Comfortable with city driving.
• Comfortable hauling oversized loads (on average 10ft wide).
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of heavy-duty construction equipment or materials on flat-bed trucks is required.
• Available and willing to work overtime when required.
• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
• Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
