Your Opportunity

The Division of Cardiac Surgery at Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (MAHI) is recruiting Surgical Assistants (SA) to join one of the largest cardiac surgery teams in Canada. Successful applicants will be working in the MAHI or as Second Assistant for adult cardiac surgery procedures. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) with qualifications to obtain a Limited Practice Register - Clinical Assistant License from College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) are welcome to apply. Canadian Citizenship or landed Immigrant Status is required for the application. Depending on the individual's experience, a 6-month probation/training period will be considered.

Description

All clinical activities are performed under the supervision of the surgeon / physician lead and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Some of the associate physician responsibilities can include, but are not limited to, completing admissions, ordering and performing selected diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, assessing and responding to the patient’s medical needs as they arise and planning care throughout the patient’s hospitalization.
