The Faculty of Business & Information Technology (FBIT) at Ontario Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the area of Human Resources Management. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1st 2025, or as soon as it is filled.

Applicants must possess a master’s or PhD degree (or equivalent) in Business/Management or Human Resources Management (HRM). For candidates with a graduate degree directly related to HRM, a Canadian professional designation in HRM (e.g. CHRL) is preferred. For candidates with a Business/Management graduate degree in an area not directly related to HRM, a Canadian professional designation in HRM (e.g. CHRL) is required. The ideal candidate will be able to teach in more than one HRM topic area in our Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (BCom) program. These areas are: Industrial and Labour Relations, Recruitment and Selection, Compensation and Benefits, Occupational Health and Safety, Employment and Labour Laws, Human Resources Planning, and/or Training and Development. Teaching responsibilities may also include courses such as The Management of Change, Collaborative Leadership, Managing Team Dynamics, Collaborative Leadership, Organizational Behaviour, Negotiations Theory and Behaviour, and/or Human Resource Management. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding teaching experience or strong potential for being an outstanding teacher. Experience teaching in a Canadian post-secondary environment is desirable.

Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment, and the candidate should have demonstrable skills in the integration of technology into teaching and be able to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, invigilating tests and examinations along with providing service to the university such as through committees.Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s) or mentorship of students in case competitions.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow an 70% teaching and 20% service and 10% other workload for the year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by theUOIT Faculty Associationand will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and theUOIT Faculty AssociationUOIT Faculty Associationcollective agreementmay be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
