Job summary

City of Belleville is seeking an Assistant Power Skating Instructor for the fall season at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. The role supports the Power Skating Instructor in delivering programs for children and youth, with supervision and safety as a priority.

The position is temporary and part-time, with Tuesday evenings 5:00pm–7:15pm and an emphasis on coaching, safety, and program administration. Satisfactory background checks and relevant certifications are required.

Qualifications

• First aid and CPR-C or higher certification required.
• Background check including vulnerable sector.
• Experience teaching skating programs to youth.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and supervision of participants and enforce rules.
• Represent the City professionally by following staff policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of City programs and maintain strong public relations.
• Assist in providing skating instruction and feedback to students and parents.
• Support the Power Skating Instructor in emergencies.
• Assist with administration and paperwork for power skating programs.
• Attend training and staff meetings as scheduled.

Salary: Grade 6 $26.14 - $28.28 per hour

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Assistant Power Skating Instructor assists the Power Skating Instructor to provide instruction to children and youth in the City of Belleville’s Power Skating Programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and for ensuring the rules and regulations set out by the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
• Represent the City with professionalism by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
• Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
• Responsible for assisting to provide skating instruction and feedback to students and their parents in the City’s power skating programs.
• Assist the Power Skating Instructor in an emergency situation.
• Assist in the administration and paperwork for the City’s power skating programs.
• Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled.
