Job summary

City of Toronto is seeking a Skate Program Instructor for the North York District to support winter skating programs. This temporary, part-time role involves ensuring safety, coordinating supplies, and assisting with events.

The position requires age 16+, First Aid, and skating program experience. NCCP accreditation is preferred, with PHCD certification provided after a conditional offer. Start date is TBD and postings end 2026-09-30.

Qualifications

  • Must be minimum 16 years of age.
  • Current Basic First Aid as recognized by the WSIB.
  • NCCP accreditation preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in a recognized Skating Program, including technical competence performing skating skills.
  • Experience working with all ages: pre-school, children, youth, adult, senior adult.
  • Knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures & regulations related to rink facilities, skating, health & safety, risk management, access & equity.
  • PHCD certification is mandatory and provided at no cost upon conditional offer of employment.

The Community Recreation Branch is responsible for the delivery of high-quality, community-based recreation programs and services to the diverse neighbourhoods of Toronto. We provide a variety of programs that promote the social and physical development for people of all ages, with an emphasis on children and youth. The Community Recreation Branch strives to ensure Toronto residents have positive recreational experiences that enhance quality of life and contribute to lifelong active living.

  • You possess certification in Parks and Recreation Ontario's Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD). This is a mandatory course that will be provided to you at no cost upon obtaining a conditional offer of employment. You will be provided with course dates and details at that time.
