Job summary

The City of Belleville is seeking an Assistant Power Skating Instructor to support the Power Skating Program at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre in Belleville, Ontario. This temporary part-time position focuses on safe, engaging instruction for children and youth.

Responsibilities include assisting with skating instruction, providing feedback to students and parents, and helping with program administration and training sessions. Reliability and experience in coaching are valued.

Qualifications

• First Aid with CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED.
• Experience working with children & youth.
• Skilled skater with experience teaching skating programs.
• Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) satisfactory.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and supervision of participants and enforce city policies.
• Represent the City professionally according to department Staff Policies.
• Provide skating instruction and feedback to students and parents.
• Assist Power Skating Instructor in emergencies and program administration.
• Attend training and staff meetings as scheduled.

ASSISTANT POWER SKATING INSTRUCTOR

Hours: Fall Season: Tuesdays 5:00pm – 7:15pm (hours subject to change based on ice availability and registered participant numbers)

Employee Group: Non-Union

Salary: Grade 6 $26.14 - $28.28 per hour

Purpose and Scope

The Assistant Power Skating Instructor assists the Power Skating Instructor to provide instruction to children and youth in the City of Belleville’s Power Skating Programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and for ensuring the rules and regulations set out by the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
• Represent the City with professionalism by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
• Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
• Responsible for assisting to provide skating instruction and feedback to students and their parents in the City’s power skating programs.
• Assist the Power Skating Instructor in an emergency situation.
• Assist in the administration and paperwork for the City’s power skating programs.
• Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled.
