Job summary

Cpask in Canada seeks a full-time accounting professional to join our finance team in Saskatoon. You will process accounts payable and receivable, input supplier invoices, track payments, and support payroll, month-end and year-end tasks under the Controller.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, a degree in accounting or finance, knowledge of ASPE, and proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Xero. CPA is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting/finance.
  • 5+ years of accounting/finance experience; managed services asset.
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA is asset.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Input and process supplier invoices accurately and on time.
  • Track outgoing payments to vendors and suppliers.
  • Track incoming payments from customers.
  • Match invoices to outgoing cheques and supporting documentation.
  • Record and deposit transactions from the Sales department.
  • Match and reconcile bank statements, identify discrepancies, and support timely resolution.
  • Accurately enter financial data into databases and accounting systems.
  • Maintain daily spreadsheets and financial records.
  • Assist with payroll, month-end, and year-end accounting tasks as required.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team and support the Controller with day-to-day priorities.

Job Description
Duties
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Input and process supplier invoices accurately and on time.
  • Track outgoing payments to vendors and suppliers.
  • Track incoming payments from customers.
  • Match invoices to outgoing cheques and supporting documentation.
  • Record and deposit transactions from the Sales department.
  • Match and reconcile bank statements, identify discrepancies, and support timely resolution.

  • Assist with payroll, month-end, and year-end accounting tasks as required.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team and support the Controller with day-to-day priorities.
Responsibilities
  • Financial Management & Oversight
    • Reports directly to the Controller with a focus on assisting the accounting operations and ensuring the financial reporting process is in alignment with ASPE.
    • Maintain accounts receivable files and records, collect and monitor outstanding balances.
    • Maintain the charter of accounts and a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Assist in preparing financial statements including month-end, quarter-end, year-end financial reporting.
    • Support the year-end audit process by coordinating with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation as required.
    • Provide regular financial reports to the Controller and Management for individual projects, divisions and for the overall company to make strategic decisions.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal government reporting and manage tax filings including GST, PST, WCB and other applicable taxes.
    • Manage statutory remittances and reporting.
  • Strategic Support
    • Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts that align with the organization's strategic goals.
    • Provide financial insight through data analysis and suggest corrective measures.
    • Contribute to the continual development of financial procedures and policies.
    • Streamline processes and procedures that will improve financial performance and operational efficiency

Requirements
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of relevant experience in Accounting or Finance, with experience in managed services a strong asset.
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial administration laws and regulations with a good understanding of ASPE.
  • Exceptional prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines and take responsibility for your work.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, payroll, and month-end and year-end procedures.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software, including QuickBooks Online and Xero.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Saskatchewan labour standards is considered an asset.
  • Experience with audit processes is considered an asset.
