Our client, a well-established organization with a strong track record and ongoing growth in Halifax, is seeking an experienced Manager, Accounts Payable to lead and continuously optimize their procure-to-pay operations.

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Payable Manager will lead the full procure-to-pay lifecycle, driving efficiency, accuracy, and automation initiatives. This versatile permanent role combines subject‑matter expertise with change leadership to streamline workflows, enhance compliance, and ensure timely, accurate vendor payments.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Provide leadership and development for a centralized Accounts Payable team, including recruitment, performance management, and professional growth, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Lead and evolve the organization’s procure-to-pay strategy by establishing clear, standardized processes and strong internal controls
• Partner closely with Operations and Procurement to ensure accurate invoice processing and timely vendor payments
• Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs, dashboards, and exception reporting to drive performance and lead month-end AP close activities
• Evaluate end-to-end workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and process optimization, implementing AI and other finance technology solutions as appropriate
• Develop governance frameworks, training plans, and SOPs to support responsible adoption of automation and continuous improvement initiatives
• Proactively address payment issues, maintain strong vendor relationships, and safeguard confidential financial and personal information in accordance with internal controls and privacy standards

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Commerce
• CPA designation is a definite asset, but not required
• Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay environments
• Experience with Yardi or similar ERP systems is an asset
• Proven experience leading process improvement and automation initiatives
• Strong data analysis skills, including dashboards, KPIs, and exception reporting
• Experience operating in a shared services model supporting multiple business lines
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and management levels
