Job summary

CFMWS – WHERE PURPOSE MEETS PASSION! Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) is seeking an Arena Attendant to monitor and maintain the ice rink and assist patrons with inquiries.

Under the supervision of the Arena Superintendent, you will ensure ice quality, operate edging and brushing equipment, and control access to the facility for authorized clients. English required, on-site position with varied shifts including days, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and CPR/First Aid qualifications are required or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in ice rink maintenance and operating ice rink equipment is required.
  • Experience in providing customer service is required.
  • Competencies include client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain ice rink conditions as directed by the Arena Superintendent.
  • Respond to inquiries about facility hours, regulations and services offered.
  • Ensure access to the facility and services is limited to authorized clients.
  • Assist with day-to-day facility operations and customer service as needed.

THE ROLE

Under the supervision of the Arena Superintendent, the Arena Attendant monitors and maintains the ice rink. They respond to inquiries about the facility, hours, regulations and rules, and provide information on services provided. The Arena Attendant maintains good ice conditions by scraping, shovelling, brushing and hosing the ice, they operate the edger to level out ice along the boards, as required, and ensure that access to the facility and services is by authorized clients only.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

High school diploma AND some years experience in a related field.

OR

An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience will also be considered.

AND

Current CPR and basic First Aid qualifications

Experience

In ice rink maintenance

In operating ice rink equipment

In providing customer service

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

OTHER INFORMATION

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.

The successful candidate must be able to work a combination of day, evening and weekend shifts
